Meet my boyfriend, Danny. He works around my crazy schedule, calms me down when I can’t even see him through the flowing tears, and was actually the one who encouraged me to pursue photography not as a hobby, but as a legitimate business. Two years ago, he knew nothing about wedding photography – or photography in general. But today, he knows who
Jasmine Star is – he even knows that her husband’s name is JD, and one time when we were talking about the TV show Dexter, he accidentally said “
Jordan Quinn” (the wedding photographer) instead of Jordan Chase (the villain from season 5). And when he really wants to get my heart pumping, he talks about aperture and ISO 🙂
I asked him to write a guest blog post and as confused and clueless he might have been writing it, I think he did a fab job. To Danny, thank you for taking the time to write this, for the kind words, but most of all for being there every step of the way on this unpredictable journey of growing my business.
“Let me start off by saying that this is my first attempt at writing a blog so bear with me. I can’t put into words how proud I am of Jill – my amazing girlfriend – for all of her accomplishments over the past (almost) two years that we have been together. Since we first started dating, I have always encouraged her to pursue her passion for photography. And all of the success she has had over the past couple years could not have happened to a more deserving person. Few people are more dedicated to their work than she is, and I know few people who work as hard as her. I say that after seeing the countless nights she has spent culling, editing, preparing, etc. Not to mention the many mornings I wake up, only to find that she has been editing in the dark so that I can sleep in (something that I definitely appreciate) or the usual Sunday during football season that consists of me watching NFL Red Zone – following my fantasy football team – as she sits on the couch next to me working on photography stuff (unlike myself, she apparently does not believe in the concept of Sundays being a day of rest). In the end though, she always makes a point of finding time for us to spend together (or at least pencils me into her calendar).
The times we do spend together are always memorable. As you’ve seen in some of her work, she is quite adventurous. On the contrary, you will not be seeing any pictures of me walking the edge of a cliff any time soon. She will tell you that making it to Dunkin Donuts before the start of football Sunday is about as adventurous as I get. Regardless, we have always managed to have fun and enjoy our time together. Whether it be snowboarding in Wisconsin (where she first seduced me), leading our co-ed softball team to the championship (Go Team Chicken Fingers!) or playing mini golf, the experiences we have had together are unforgettable. Suffice to say, I am excited to see both her business and our relationship grow over many years to come. If you’ve made it this far, tune in for her next blog b/c (as you’ve noticed) it will certainly be more exciting than this.”
