I met Julie, John, and Julie’s mother Kathy at a little place called Cafe Selmarie in Lincoln Square a while back. We chatted and shared a few laughs over lattes as I learned more about their relationship, wedding day, photography wants, and even about a French dish called poutine (basically fries with gravy on top… YUM). I knew I found a JT bride as soon as I saw the excitement spread over Julie’s face as she talked about… not bridal gowns and vintage details (while I do LOVE those things, too), but yes, food. I’m a foodie at heart and definitely love finding that common interest in others 🙂

Julie + John’s wedding morning started off with a fallen tree in the yard of the house they just bought, grey skies and hard downpours, and of course, a flooded basement. But like the Red Sea, the skies parted as soon as the wedding party was finished getting ready and the day turned out… well, kind of perfect.

The ceremony was all smiles at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Glenview. And although it had rained that morning, everything was even more perfect at Winnemac Park where we did wedding party portraits before heading to the reception. Ravenswood Event Center… what can I say about this venue? Well, it’s one of my favorites that’s for sure. I think the vintage cars speak for themselves and create an extraordinary and unique wedding space – one that I was just thrilled to be a part of. To Julie + John, congratulations on a beautiful wedding and even more special relationship. Your friends and family could not have been happier to share in your love that day, and I’m so thankful you chose me to capture it all 🙂
