Molly and Brian met at a work happy hour in 2009. Brian spent much of the happy hour answering questions about work, but soon found himself chatting with Molly about other things and was fully engaged in their conversation. So much so that he chased her down in the parking lot after she left and asked for her number…. and it only took two years for him to work up the courage to ask her out on a date.
About two months after they started dating, Brian went to Ireland with his family and Molly went on vacation with a girlfriend from college. The trips overlapped and so they didn’t see each other for two weeks – which seemed like an eternity at the time! When Molly got back, Brian picked her up at the airport, got her flowers, wrote her a cute letter and “gave her his heart” (an origami heart – it was fragile and doesn’t easily unfold without ripping it – so she didn’t). Molly, of course, thought it was precious and kept it on the bedside table for years.
Flash forward three years to this summer, they went on vacation and Brian asked Molly if she wanted to go take a walk on the beach. While they were walking, Brian handed Molly a note that read – “It’s Time to Open my Heart.” With that, he pulled the origami heart (the one from three years ago) out of his back pocket and told her to rip it open. Inside was a note he had written in 2011 that said “When you know, you know… will you marry me?!”
Molly + Brian, I love your story. And it was clear on your wedding day how in love you are, how much your family and friends love you, and how much love your life will be filled with. It was wonderful getting to know you and your family, and I wish you all of the best in London, Philadelphia, and hopefully back in Chicago one day!
