Nandy, Kiran, and myself met at Olive Park a few weeks back on a chilly, and I mean CHIL-LY Saturday morning. The two have been dating for a few years and got engaged a little while ago. Kiran lives in Indiana and Nandy lives in Chicago and their wedding is going to be in New York… but they wanted to capture a few photos in Chicago because this is where their relationship bloomed and where they’ll be living together after the wedding.
Despite the brutal Chicago winter morning (and the slip and fall I happened to experience ever so gracefully while approaching Nandy + Kiran for the first time – Hi, I’m embarrassing.), I feel blessed to have people like Nandy and Kiran as my clients. We were all freezing. But Nandy was so kind as to offer her gloves to keep my hands warm. And after shooting at Olive Park, downtown near the Chicago River, and the Lincoln Park Zoo Nature Boardwalk… it takes a special soul to be willing to give up gloves in this weather 🙂 But the generosity didn’t stop there.
We ended the shoot at one of their favorite cupcake shops, Molly’s Cupcakes. And I can’t say it enough… I LOVE LOVE LOVE when clients incorporate a special, meaningful place and/or activity into the engagement session. It makes the photos that much more special and unique to their relationship. Plus… as a thank you for the session… they bought me what might have been one of the most delicious cupcakes I’ve ever had. They knew the way to my heart… I’ll never say no to ending a session at a cupcake shop 🙂 Nandy + Kiran – thanks for choosing me to document your Chicago love story. I love that we chatted over coffee afterwards, too. New clients = new friends!
